Dear Parents and Students,
 
Please take note of the following:
 
I.   Academic affairs
  A. Second Term Examination 5/6 (Fri) to 17/6 (Wed)
    The Second Term Examination has been arranged from 5/6 (Fri) to 17/6 (Wed). Please refer to the attached for the Examination Timetable (Appendix 1) and note that the afternoon classes of all levels on 4th June 2015 (Thurs) will be cancelled. Students are strongly advised to be well-prepared for the examination and strive for the best.
     
    In case of contingencies arising from bad weather which warrant announcement on suspension of schools by the Secretary for Education Bureau, the examination concerned will be postponed accordingly. For instance, if school is suspended on Monday, the examination originally scheduled for Monday will be held on Tuesday.
     
    2015年聯校中五級中文科口試 6/6 (Sat)
     
    為提高同學的中文說話能力及應試心理素質,本校中文科將舉辦「聯校中五級中文科口試」,所有中五級同學必須參與,是次考試等同下學期校內考試卷四(說話能力)。部分中四級同學亦獲科任老師推薦參與是次口試,從旁觀摩各校考生之表現。口試詳情如下:
   
日期: 2015年6月6日(星期六)
時間及地點: 上午8時30至12時正(考生的個別應考時間和地點已於五月中公佈,時間表亦將於六月初上載至學校網頁)
參與之學校: 喇沙書院、協恩中學、寶血會上智英文書院、華仁書院(九龍)、基督教香港信義會信義中學、培正中學及培道中學
     
  B. Paper Checking after the Second Term Examination 19/6 (Fri) to 23/6 (Tue)
   
Classes for paper-checking have been fixed as below :
  F.1 to F.3 19/6 (Fri) and 22/6 (Mon)
  F.4 and F.5 19/6 (Fri), 22/6 (Mon) and 23/6 (Tue)
The Timetable will be released in due course.
     
  C. Supplementary Class for F.4 Students 24/6 (Wed) to 26/6 (Fri)
    Please refer to the attached for the supplementary class timetable (Appendix 2).
     
  D. F.3 Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) 23/6 (Tue) to 24/6 (Wed)
    TSA for F.3 classes (Written Assessments in Chinese Language, English Language & Mathematics) has been scheduled for 23/6 (Tue) and 24/6 (Wed). Please refer to the attached TSA timetable for details (Appendix 3).
    All F.3 students are encouraged to adopt a serious attitude towards the assessments.
     
  E. Supplementary Test for F.1 to F.2 Students 8/7 (Wed)
    Students who fail in more than one of the following subjects in this academic year will be requested to take a supplementary test on 8th July 2015 (Wed):
       Integrated Science, Geography, History and Chinese History
     
    Details of the venue and time for the supplementary test will be released in due course.
     
  F. Release of Second Term Examination Results 9/7 (Thu)
    All F.1 to F.5 students should take roll-call in their homerooms at 9:00 a.m. on 9/7 (Thu) on which the report cards will be distributed to them. Parents are invited to review the performance of your children, sign the Report Cards and have them submitted to the class teachers on the Registration Day (10/7 Fri).
     
  G. Registration Day 10/7 (Fri) (註冊日)
    All F.1 to F.5 students should take roll-call in their homerooms at 9:00 a.m. on 10/7 (Fri) and produce the Report Cards with parents’ signatures for registration.
     
  H. Dropping of Electives (including NSS Music & French) in 2015/16 (for current F.4 and F.5 students only)
    The application forms will be distributed to the students on 9/7 (Thu). They should be returned to the class teacher by 10/7 (Fri) or the General Office from 10/7 (Fri) to 14/7 (Tue). Late application will not be accepted.
     
  I. Summer Performance Booster for F.1 to F.3 Students Promoted On Trial 16/7 (Thu) to 23/7 (Thu)
    In order to improve the academic performance of the F.1 to F.3 students who fail to meet the minimum requirements for promotion of the school and so are promoted on trial, to the acceptable levels, the Academic Affairs Committee has arranged a Summer Performance Booster (Core subjects) for this group of students in the summer vacation. Details of the Assessment Criteria can be found in the Student and Parent Handbook 2014-2015 Page 41.
     
    The program is compulsory for the selected students who are promoted on trial and will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the period from 16/7 (Thu) to 23/7 (Thu). Circular will be issued to the selected students in due course. Parents are reminded to encourage students to try their best in academic pursuit and strive for a real balance between academics and activities.
     
  J. Supplementary Class for F.5 Students 27/7 (Mon) to 15/8 (Sat)
    The 2015 F.5 Summer Supplementary Class Timetable will be released in due course.

IV.   Learning Fund & Financial Assistance
  A. Student Financial Assistance
   
The Government’s Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA) is inviting families of Primary and Secondary students to apply for their relevant student subsidy schemes for the 2015/16 academic year. Eligible families at this College may apply for the following subsidies:
  • The School Textbook Assistance Scheme
  • The Student Traveling Subsidy Scheme
  • The Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges
Application Forms with the details of these schemes can now be obtained from the school office. All applications should be handed directly to the SFAA Office by the end of May, 2015. For enquiries, please call the SFAA Office on 2802 2345.
     
  B. Last call for the Application for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Life-wide Learning Fund 2014/15
    The Fund aims to enable financially needy students from P1 to S6 students to participate in life-wide learning programmes organised or recognised by schools for whole-person development. Programmes include visits (both local and overseas), field studies, community services, camps, extra-curricular activities, interest clubs and leadership training programmes.
     
   
The following are the eligible students:
  1. receiving “Comprehensive Social Security Assistance” (CSSA), or
  2. receiving full grant under School Textbook Assistance Scheme (full grant), or
  3. meeting the school's established “financially needy” criteria.
Needy students can apply for subsidies from the fund directly via the school. Application forms can be obtained from Connie Lam at the General Office. The completed application forms should be returned to Mr. Yu Kin Man at the General Office directly by 4th June 2015. All the application details will be kept confidential.
     
V.   V. CUHK Project on Cardiopulmonary Fitness in Hong Kong Children and Adoloescents (香港青少年心肺功能檢查研究計劃) [FOR F.1 – F.3 Students ONLY]
    The Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is going to conduct a study for developing normal reference values for cardiopulmonary fitness in healthy Chinese children and adolescents. F.1 – F.3 students under 15 years of age are invited to join the study. The assessment for our students, about 1.5 to 2 hours each, will be conducted in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin during weekends or school holidays. Research staff from the CUHK will arrange the assessment time with the participants individually during the period from 10th June, 2015 to 30th August, 2016. Each participating student will receive an individual report for completion of the assessment and HK$200 as travel allowance.
     
    If you would like your child to join this project, please complete and return the consent form to the Class Teachers on/before 28th May, 2015 (Thu)
     
VI.   Replacement of Smart Cards
   
The use of smart cards on campus has been put into operation since September 2009. The smart cards are designed for use in three consecutive school years printed on the back of the cards. The third batch of cards was printed in 2012 and is going to expire on 1st September 2015. The three school years printed on the back of these cards are “12 – 13”, “13 – 14”, “14 – 15”. Card replacement is a MUST for this batch. These cardholders with no intention to withdraw have to submit a cheque for card replacement to the class teachers by 19th June, 2015 during Post-exam Paper Checking. The details are as follows:
  • Card replacement per student: $40
  • Fee to be submitted by cheque to the Class Teacher by 19th June, 2015.
  • Cheque to be made payable to “The Incorporated Management Committee of Munsang College”.
  • Name, class and contact number of student to be written on the back of the cheque.
  • Post-dated cheques not to be accepted.
It must be noted that the submission of cheques carries no implication for securing a place at Munsang College of the next school year 2015 – 2016. The cheque will NOT be cashed till 10th July, 2015 (Registration Day). Students who do not register eventually must submit a letter of withdrawal to the General Office by the Registration Day. The cheque will be returned to them immediately. Otherwise, fee refund of card replacement will not be made.
     
VII.   School Events Update
    73rd Speech Day & Related Arrangement 9/7 (Thu)
  1. Date, Time, Venue & Guest-of-honour
    It is our pleasure to inform you that the 73rd Speech Day has been scheduled for 9th July 2015 (Thurs) at 3:00 p.m. at the School Hall. Dr. Moses Cheng Mo-chi GBS, OBE, JP, Chairman of Education Commission, had kindly consented to address the gathering and present certificates and prizes.
     
  2. Programme Rundown & Related Schedule
    The ceremony will start with the presentation of graduation certificates to F.6 graduates, to be followed by the presentation of scholarships, academic awards, subject prizes, service awards, and conduct prizes for all form levels of 2014/15.
     
    For the dress rehearsal, all graduates and prize winners must report to the teachers-in-charge at designated rooms at 10:00 a.m. on 9th July 2015 (Thurs). All F.5 students are also invited to attend the ceremony and report to the teacher-in-charge at designated rooms at 1:30 p.m.
     
    Detailed information will be release in due course via the School Homepage and eClass mail.
